South East Walks Partnership

Comprising of Kent, East and West Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire County Councils, the Countryside Agency and South East England Tourist Board, this unique partnership was established in 1997 to promote walking within this very special, yet overlooked, part of England. From exhilarating cliff top walks to serene meanders through peaceful woodland, the whole of the South East is an underestimated walking destination and the promotional work of the partnership reflects on what people are missing!
There are currently eleven long distance trails that form the basic routes within the partnership. Two of these trails pass close to Dorking - the North Downs and Greensand Ways - and both of these link into the network of local trails and paths outlined in this section.
As well as promoting the walking, and cycling, the partnership looks to new ways to improve facilities for walkers within an area and new schemes such as 'Walkers Welcome' have been well received by Bed and Breakfast and hotels throughout the region.
